Hair replacement or hair transplant surgery in San Diego generally costs more than wigs, weaves and other devices because it involves transferring your own real, living hairs from the back of the scalp to the front and crown. Hair transplant is permanent because these hairs are taken from a part of the scalp that is not sensitive to “male pattern baldness,” and they will not be lost over time. Hair transplant is an investment in your appearance that over time may actually cost less than the repeat visits required to maintain a weave or even a wig.

Hair transplant cost is often based on “price per graft.” This is because hairs are transferred as follicular unit grafts. The price per graft may vary by doctor and by technique (strip versus FUE). FUE hair transplant (moving the grafts one at a time with no scar) is much more time consuming and usually more expensive that strip transplant.
